Job summary

UVA Community Health is seeking a Patient Services Coord III to schedule and register patients for outpatient clinics, verify eligibility, and coordinate pre-authorizations with physician offices and insurance teams.

Responsibilities include processing referrals and maintaining accurate patient information, delivering courteous service, and supporting a smooth patient flow across UVA Health’s community locations.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience: 1 year of clerical experience in medical office required.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology and strong customer service skills.
• Insurance knowledge for certain tasks; ability to read insurance cards.
• Preferred: ICD-10/CPT coding knowledge; proficiency with Windows and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and registers patients for the outpatient clinic.
• Verifies eligibility and ensures pre-authorizations/referrals/pre-certifications are obtained.
• Coordinates with physician offices, Utilization Review, and Business Office.
• May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
