Job summary

The University of Virginia UVA Community Health is seeking a Patient Services Coord III to schedule and registrar patients for the outpatient clinic, verify eligibility, and ensure all necessary pre-authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications are obtained in collaboration with physician offices, Utilization Review, and the Business Office.

This non-exempt, part-time days position requires knowledge of basic medical terminology, strong customer service, and the ability to communicate

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of clerical experience in medical office setting required.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing and possess a high degree of excellent customer service skills.
• Background of insurance knowledge is required for certain tasks assigned.
• Background/knowledge of government/state and patient assistance programs is preferred.
• Working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding is preferred.
• Strong computer skills. Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and registrars patients for the outpatient clinic.
• Verifies eligibility for patients and ensures all pre-authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications are obtained as necessary by working closely with the physician offices, Utilization Review and Business Office Departments.
• Perform other job-related duties as directed by the Supervisor.
