Job summary

American Vision Partners (AVP) is seeking a Call Center Premium Surgery Counselor to assist patients through the surgical process and pre-operative steps. You will educate patients on options, including premium products, and schedule procedures while acting as a liaison among the office, surgical facility, patient and referring physicians.

You will maintain knowledge of center surgeries, counsel on pre/post-operative instructions, and ensure necessary signed documents are obtained.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least one year of experience in a medical practice; refractive, surgical, aesthetic or ophthalmology specialties preferred.
• Experience in ophthalmology preferred.
• Must be comfortable discussing financial options and presenting payment plans.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to make decisions within established protocols and with minimal supervision.
• Detail oriented, reliable and able to multi-task in a fast paced, high-volume work environment.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assists the patient with all aspects of the surgical process and pre-operative preparations.
• Educates and counsels patients regarding their surgical options, including premium product offerings.
• Schedules surgery and makes all surgical appointments; acts as a liaison between the office, surgical facility, patient and referring physician.
• Maintains knowledge of surgeries performed at AVP facilities.
• Counsels patients for surgery with clear details about what to expect.
• Reviews surgery paperwork to ensure signed documents are received.
• Monitors surgery schedules and reschedules as needed.
• Ensures collection of patient out-of-pocket amounts prior to surgery.
• Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
• Participates in ongoing training and continued education.
• Encourages a team-oriented environment.
• Performs any additional duties as assigned.
