A leading construction firm in Singapore is seeking a WSHC cum Lifting Coordinator to ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and manage lifting operations on-site. This role involves preparing safety assessments, conducting inspections, and coordinating with site personnel. The ideal candidate will possess relevant certifications and have at least 3 years of experience in high-rise construction. The position requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work under pressure, including shifts as needed.
The WSHC cum Lifting Coordinator shall support site management in ensuring compliance with the Workplace Safety and Health Act, its subsidiary legislation, and all applicable Codes of Practice, Approved Codes, and MOM requirements, particularly for lifting operations.
Assist the Project Manager / WSH Officer in implementing, monitoring, and maintaining the Workplace Safety & Health Management System in accordance with statutory and project requirements.
Plan, coordinate, and oversee lifting operations on site in compliance with the Workplace Safety and Health (Operation of Cranes) Regulations, approved lifting plans, risk assessments, and safe work procedures.
Prepare, review, and update Risk Assessments (RA), Safe Work Procedures (SWP), method statements, and lifting plans for construction and lifting-related works.
Conduct regular site safety inspections and monitor lifting operations to unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance, and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
Ensure all cranes, lifting machines, lifting gears, and accessories are properly certified, inspected, tested, and maintained in accordance with statutory requirements before use.
Coordinate and liaise with lifting supervisors, crane operators, riggers, signalmen, subcontractors, and site personnel to ensure lifting works are carried out safely and in accordance with approved plans.
Verify that all personnel involved in lifting operations and safety-critical activities are competent, trained, authorised, and hold valid certificates as required under the regulations.
Conduct toolbox meetings, safety briefings, safety inductions, and pre-lift briefings to communicate hazards, control measures, and safe work practices.
Ensure proper implementation of barricades, exclusion zones, warning signage, traffic control measures, and permit-to-work systems for lifting and other high-risk activities.
Assist in the investigation and reporting of accidents, dangerous occurrences, and near misses, including lifting-related incidents, and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date WSH and lifting records, including inspection checklists, permits, lifting plans, equipment certificates, and statutory registers.
Support and coordinate MOM inspections, audits, and client safety inspections, and ensure timely closure of findings and non-compliances.
Promote a positive safety culture on site and exercise the authority to stop unsafe work where there is an imminent risk to safety or health.
Report safety, health, and lifting-related matters to site management promptly and accurately.
Perform any other duties related to workplace safety and lifting coordination as assigned by management.
Possess a Certificate or Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) Level B and/or other relevant safety certifications recognised by MOM.
Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in high-rise building construction projects.
Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with workers, supervisors, subcontractors, consultants, and authorities.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced construction environment.
Willingness to work rotating shifts, including night shifts, as required by project operations.
Able to commit to a 6-day work week.
