Job description

The Warehouse Assistant is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the warehouse, including the organization, storage, and movement of goods. This role involves ensuring that inventory is managed properly, shipments are processed in a timely manner, and safety and cleanliness standards are maintained. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, physically fit, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
Assist in receiving, inspecting, and storing goods.
Organize inventory within the warehouse to ensure that items are easy to locate and access.
Track and update inventory levels, ensuring that stock is properly recorded in the warehouse management system (WMS).
Monitor stock levels and inform the supervisor when items are running low or need reordering.

Order Fulfillment:
Pick and pack items for orders in a timely and accurate manner.
Label products, ensuring they are ready for shipping.
Prepare shipments for delivery, ensuring that all orders are complete and accurate.
Loading and Unloading:
Assist in loading and unloading goods from delivery trucks, using equipment such as forklifts (if trained) or manually.
Ensure the safe and proper handling of goods to prevent damage during the loading/unloading process.

Warehouse Organization:
Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment, ensuring aisles are clear, and products are stored properly.
Ensure that all safety regulations are followed, including the proper use of equipment and PPE (personal protective equipment).
Quality Control:
Inspect products for defects or damage before they are shipped out or put into storage.
Ensure that goods are correctly labeled and match the packing slips or invoices.

General Warehouse Support:
Assist with regular inventory counts and audits.
Help maintain a safe and orderly work environment by following warehouse safety protocols.
Assist the warehouse supervisor or manager with additional tasks as required.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics role is a plus.
Basic understanding of inventory management systems is an advantage.
Ability to use warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks (training may be provided).
Good physical condition and ability to lift and carry heavy items as needed.
