Information Technology – Vice President, Artificial Intelligence & Data
Job Description

We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Vice President, Artificial Intelligence & Data to lead and scale our AI, data science, and data engineering capabilities. This role is central to the digital transformation of Singapore Airlines, supporting innovation across commercial, customer service, and operational areas.

You will helm a high-performing organization of data scientists and data engineers, driving advanced AI and data initiatives with enterprise-grade discipline and cutting‑edge innovation. You must be highly technically literate, business-savvy, and thrive in cross‑functional environments that span product, technology, and strategic partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Strategy
    • Define and execute the enterprise AI and data vision in alignment with business objectives.
    • Provide strategic and technical leadership to a multidisciplinary team of data scientists and data engineers.
    • Mentor, grow, and retain a diverse, seasoned technical team; cultivate a culture of innovation and excellence.
    • Evaluate and partner with hyperscalers, software vendors, and research collaborators to extend internal capabilities.
  • AI & Machine Learning
    • Spearhead initiatives involving large language models (LLMs); multimodal generative AI; and tool‑us eAI agent architectures involving agentic frameworks such as LangGraph, OpenAI Agents SDK, and Google ADK.
    • Guide strategy for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), model context protocol (MCP) implementation, and LLM fine-tuning.
  • Data Engineering
    • Oversee the architecture and delivery of cloud-native and distributed systems, supporting real-time and batch data pipelines.
    • Ensure robust data governance, lineage, and operational resilience across on-premises and cloud platforms.
    • Champion enterprise-wide LLMOps/MLOps best practices—supported by an in-house developed LLMOps platform orchestrating a mix of on-premises and cloud GPUs/CPUs; integrated with custom and off-the-shelf tools for AI/agentic observability, model evaluation, and lifecycle management.
    • Promote and apply DevOps and DataOps best practices for scalable and secure system deployment.
  • Cross-functional & External Engagement
    • Act as the technical leader of AI and data to internal stakeholders, executive leadership, and industry partners.
    • Monitor AI, data, and infrastructure trends; assess emerging technologies for enterprise readiness and strategic fit.
    • Represent the airline in relevant technical forums, consortia, standards groups, and public/private collaborations.
Stakeholder Management
  • Possess strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication abilities, ensuring clear, consistent, and transparent information flow among all stakeholders.
  • The role requires proactively identifying stakeholder needs, addressing concerns, and facilitating collaboration to drive positive outcomes.
  • Adapt at aligning stakeholder interests with overall business objectives, translating strategic goals into actionable plans, and ensuring deliverables support the company’s growth and success.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. PhD is a plus.
  • 15+ years of experience in enterprise data/AI systems, including 5+ years in technical leadership or executive roles.
  • Strong track record in leading teams to build and deploy enterprise AI systems, preferably involving LLMs, autonomous AI agents, MLOps, and model fine-tuning.
  • Solid understanding of data platforms, cloud infrastructure, and distributed systems (in AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor high-performing technical teams, with strong emphasis on collaboration and ownership.
  • Proven ability to engage strategically with industry partners and vendors, especially hyperscalers.
  • Excellent communication and executive stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with aviation or travel tech industry is a plus.
  • Contributions to open-source AI/data tooling or standards development.
  • Publications or speaking engagements in AI/ML or data engineering forums.
