Job summary

A community service organization in Singapore is looking for a Therapeutic Care Worker (Youth Mentor) to provide trauma-informed care to adolescents. Responsibilities include supervising activities, assisting residents, and conducting therapeutic interventions. Candidates should have minimum GCE 'N' Level qualifications and experience with at-risk youth. This is a full-time, 2-year contract position in Potong Pasir with salary based on experience.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Therapeutic Care Worker (Youth Mentor) is responsible for providing trauma-informed care, supervision and management to female adolescents who have experienced abuse or neglect. With an aim to promote wellness and quality of life, the Therapeutic Care Worker (Youth Mentor) ensures that basic personal, physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, educational, and social needs of residents are met.

  • Carry out the daily operational duties and supervise residents in their regular activities
  • Assist residents with any difficulties related to day-to-day issues at Dayspring Residential Treatment Centre and ensure their welfare and safety
  • Promote discipline among the residents and be a mentor/role model to them
  • Assess, respond and handle crises or conflicts
  • Carry out individual therapeutic interventions based on care plans by treatment team
  • Participate in providing physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, educational, and social needs of residents
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Pre-Requisite:

Youth Mentors are required to work with young beneficiaries with complex trauma. Suitable for workers with cognitive and emotional maturity

  • Must be willing to work on 3-shift rotations and over weekend/Public Holidays
  • Must be able to work with children and teenage girls
  • Licensing Agency, MSF, requires direct care staff to be minimum 21 years of age

Competencies:

  • Minimum GCE 'N' Level, or equivalent qualifications
  • With experience in working with youth at-risk
  • With basic processing and counselling skills
  • With knowledge of common issues and disorders that appears in trauma and abuse
  • Suitable emotional attributes and resilence
  • Good physical and mental health. Suitable emotional attributes and resilience
  • Good interpersonal skills to work independently and as a team
  • Energetic, enthusiastic and positive attitude to life and work
  • Nurturing yet with clear, consistent and firm boundaries

    Work Arrangement - Full -time; 2-Year Contract; Permanent

    Workplace - Potong Pasir
