SKEI markets and trades crude oil and petroleum products. The company was incorporated in 1990 and is based in Singapore. SK energy international operates as a subsidiary of SK trading international.

The Global Naphtha & Asia Gasoline Trading Team Leader will lead a team of traders, operators and analysts in the Distillates Business Office, one of the trading books in Singapore, reporting to the Head of Distillates and supporting SK’s commodities trading business. Responsibilities include:

[Managing Trading Position]
  • Play a lead role in managing the team in the trading of naphtha, gasoline and related derivatives
  • Accountable for Purchase and Sales activities relating to the developing of naphtha and gasoline business and the fulfillment of the system requirement (eg. Inchon and Ulsan refinery)
  • Plan and initiate actions to achieve overall trading targets with specific business model and report progress to relevant personnel and amend or create new trading targets based on evaluation
  • Identify and pursue pipeline and potential business with target customers and region
  • Manage short to mid-term deals within specified risk parameters
  • Manage supply and storage (if any) positions in accordance with compliance protocols
[Risk Management]
  • Drive development of Organization’s trading and operation risk management strategies and processes in line with Organization’s overall risk management framework
  • Manage structured trades (derivatives & physical aggregated) based on synthesized assessment of commodities markets and risks factors
  • Develop structured trading methodology to manage trading exposure and use hedging and risk management strategies to manage risk / exposure
  • Monitor trading position risk (Loss Limit & VAR etc) and, if necessary, request an increase in the limit but always in line with Organization’s overall risk management framework
  • Monitor customer’s credit conditions and, if necessary, request an increase in the limit so that it provides a better environment for conducting business
[Analysis and Logical Hypothesis]
  • Oversee both macro and micro view to draw insights and expand naphtha and gasoline trading activities by researching on cause & effect to get better accuracy
  • Develop strategic model based on deep knowledge and global network of the market
[Creating Business Opportunity]
  • Responsible for identifying and developing new trading opportunities while maintaining relationships with suppliers and customers to ensure optimal outcomes
  • Develop specific partnership business model which can create more value for each other
[Management Reporting]
  • Be ready for 24/7 reporting to Top Management on anything related to naphtha and gasoline market and book
  • Perform research and regularly report on market analysis, trading position and strategy to Top Management (bi-weekly/Monthly/Quarterly/Yearly)
  • Prepare strategic management reports and work closely with Seoul HQ on trading activities
  • Responsible for goal setting and achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for members and assigned trading coverage
[Strategy Planning and Stakeholder Management]
  • Cultivate relationships that create trust, long-term partnership, collaboration while driving engagement with stakeholders
  • Devise multiple strategies of conflict management
  • Co-ordinate all parties to resolve the conflict and assess conflict situation by arriving at compromised solutions
  • Build long term customer relationships and propose solution offerings that anticipates customers’ needs and exceeds expectations
  • Manage, initiate and drive customer relationships and formulate Customer Relationship Management (CRM) strategies to improve business relationships with customers
Candidate Profile

A self-motivated individual who values integrity, have willing brain engagement in going the extra mile to provide excellence, creating happiness and value to stakeholders. A strong candidate should possess the following:

  • Minimally 8 years of relevant (naphtha and gasoline) trading experience
  • Minimally 3 years of risk management experience
  • Minimally 3 years in a leadership role
  • Degree in Business, Economics, Finance or other relevant qualifications with strong mathematical inclination
  • Strongly analytical and financial modelling skills to assimilate complex and ambiguous data to identify key issues and aid in decision making
  • Strongly knowledge of MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Possess relevant experience in developing trade strategies such as spreads and arbitrage
  • Highly motivated and organized individuals who exhibit strong integrity, work ethics and ability to perform under pressure
  • Effective team player with excellent oral and written communication skills and strong stakeholder management skills
  • Good leadership skills in people management to achieve business and operational goals through systematic planning and established business infrastructure in Seoul, HQ
