In this role you will:
  • Sector lead for Energy, Materials; include a portfolio of leading commodity names, manufacturers and industrial names.
  • Devise strategy for sector growth, and lead the execution effort along with a team of seasoned bankers.
  • Manage, direct and control all aspects of business within the sector within Corporate & Institutional Banking.
  • The portfolio consists of Commodity companies across Oil & Gas, Mining and Soft commodities, and the candidate needs to have strong industry knowledge and experience.
  • Guide the team to optimize portfolio returns, portfolio income contribution and market share by originating new business, maximizing wallet share from the portfolio, increasing cross‑introduction of the bank's entire suite of products and services, as well as defending existing business.
  • Put frameworks in place to provide sector thought leadership. Work closely with product partners to deliver industry‑leading content in the sector.
  • Deepen understanding of the client portfolio by conducting pro‑active credit risk assessments and customer due diligence reviews.
  • Ensure that all aspects of risk – financial and non‑financial risks, are well managed throughout the client lifecycle by identifying, assessing, monitoring, escalating and mitigating risk.
  • Keep abreast of developments, products and offerings from HSBC, competitors, and market changes.
  • Understand HSBC’s commitments to sustainable growth and engage customers in their ESG journey and supporting them in becoming sustainable businesses.
  • Manage and grow your high‑end customer relationships independently.
To be successful you will need:
  • Significant number of years of relevant experience in a front‑line credit marketing role.
  • Strong credit and marketing skills with ability to maintain and grow existing client portfolio, acquire new clients, identify opportunities and convert these into tangible business for the bank.
  • In depth knowledge of sophisticated Global Markets, Global Payments Solutions and Global Trade Solutions products with extensive experience in marketing and structuring these products.
  • Great communication skills with ability and stature to engage with a diverse client profile ranging from the operations staff of midsized companies to the Managing Directors and CEOs of large corporates.
  • Cohesive team player who possesses a positive attitude.
