Job summary

A leading educational institution in Singapore is seeking a Research Associate to work on synthetic biology projects aimed at tackling sustainability challenges. The successful candidate will develop biological systems in light harvesting and optimize photoelectrochemical processes for carbon-negative applications. Candidates should have a Master’s degree in environmental science and a strong background in laboratory research, along with good communication skills. Shortlisted candidates will be notified.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in environmental science and engineering or related field.
  • Familiarity with environmental biotechnology and relevant net-zero technologies.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience in relevant experimental research.
  • A record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Responsibilities

  • Apply synthetic biology approaches to design and construct cells capable of light harvesting.
  • Engineer model microbial platforms with functional extracellular electron transfer pathways.
  • Perform experiments to validate the performance and functionality of engineered cells.
  • Develop and optimize photoelectrochemical systems integrated with microbial platforms.
  • Utilize integrated systems for the synthesis of valuable bioproducts.
  • Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and IP disclosures.
  • Maintain high standards of laboratory safety and quality control.
