Job description
JOB PURPOSE

This position is to plan and implement interaction and engagement strategies with government and external stakeholders in support of facilitating SABIC growth as well as defending our commercial interests in the Southeast (SE) and Northeast (NE) Asia Region

Work with the Regional Head in management and co‑ordination with internal stakeholders i.e. BUs, functions as well as Country Managers in the planning, development and implementation of initiatives and action plans to improve the region's transformation agenda and facilitate SABIC's regional growth plans

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain and expand relationships with key government agencies and external stakeholders in key markets in SE & NE Asia essential to SABIC's business interests
  • Leverage on external networks and relationship capital to support SABIC's market development, investment facilitation and technological collaboration aligned to SABIC's regional business strategy for SE & NE Asia region
  • Strategize and influence our advocacy on policy issues and impediments to SABIC's regional business strategy
  • Monitor regulatory changes impacting SABIC's business in areas of tariffs, trade policies, single use plastics, chemicals standards, ASEAN FTA with other countries etc. and develop appropriate actions in collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • Strengthen regional external intelligence to facilitate the flow of key information on political and economical developments among internal stakeholders and HQ
  • Present and analyze to SABIC regional and senior leadership on key regional developments and its impact on regional business strategy
  • Lead coordination with the Country Managers to implement country specific Government relations and business enabler actions
  • Provide support as a member of the Crisis Management Team by interacting as focal point with Government agencies
  • Support Corporate Communication and Brand Management teams on developing and implementing strategies to improve SABIC's presence and brand performance in the region
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree in Economics, Political Science, Law from internally recognized university. Post graduate qualifications will be a plus.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in government, political and economic consultancy and industry association
  • Good knowledge of regional politics, economics and trade issues
  • Independent and proactive in operating the region
  • Able to shape and influence SABIC's holistic regional strategy
  • Adapt to changes in the region and advise internal stakeholders on impact and required actions
