Job Description

The Network Engineer is responsible for the daily operations, maintenance, and performance optimization of the Customer’s enterprise network infrastructure. This includes configuration, monitoring, incident response, change management, and reporting in compliance with SLA and security policies.

Key Responsibilities
Operation & Administration
  • Perform daily log reviews to detect abnormal network behaviors or faults.
  • Administer user authentication, authorization, and accounting.
  • Maintain IP address schema, firewall rule sets, and encryption settings.
  • Apply firmware/software upgrades and critical security patches.
  • Manage cable patching, re-patching, and labeling.
  • Conduct incident troubleshooting, diagnostics, and documentation.
  • Maintain configuration backups, patch records, and audit logs.
Network Configuration & Optimization
  • Configure routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Optimize throughput, latency, and load distribution across links.
  • Clean up obsolete configurations, ACLs, and firewall rules.
  • Maintain updated network topology and configuration documentation.
Network Maintenance
  • Plan and execute scheduled maintenance with prior approval.
  • Conduct risk and impact assessments for changes.
  • Provide on-site support and verification during Customer-led preventive maintenance.
  • Ensure graceful shutdown/startup of networking equipment.
Monitoring & Threshold Management
  • Monitor: Link health, bandwidth usage, interface errors.
  • Device performance (CPU, RAM, memory).
  • Detect and respond to threshold breaches (e.g., 60% warning, 80% critical).
  • Bottlenecks, flapping routes, and degraded performance.
  • Utilize tools such as Cisco Catalyst Center, SNMP-based NMS, and OpenText.
Reporting
  • Submit monthly reports covering fault summaries and incident metrics.
  • Configuration changes and policy updates.
  • Network utilization (CPU, link usage, latency trends).
  • Support ad hoc reporting via PSS or dashboard queries.
Qualifications & Requirements
Technical Skills
  • Strong hands‑on knowledge of Layer 2/3 switching, routing (OSPF/BGP), VLANs, ACLs, VPNs.
  • Experience with Cisco, Fortinet, or Palo Alto devices preferred.
  • Familiarity with log analysis, SNMP traps, syslogs, and SIEM integration.
  • Scripting (Python, Ansible) is a plus for automation tasks.
Certifications
  • CCNA or equivalent required.
  • CCNP, Fortinet NSE, or equivalent preferred.
Experience
  • 3+ years in enterprise network operations or managed services.
  • Familiar with ITIL change and incident management processes.
Soft Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication for incident updates and reporting.
  • Ability to work under pressure and coordinate with multiple resolver teams.
