Job summary

A global leader in shipping and logistics is seeking a candidate to assist the Gateway Trade Manager with commercial activities. The ideal candidate will have a diploma in shipping or logistics, 1-2 years of experience in the industry, and proficiency in MS Excel. Responsibilities include monitoring booking trends, negotiating pricing commitments, and managing delivery volume. This role is open for local employment only. Primary Objective

Assist the Gateway Trade Manager in overall commercial activities of your assigned service(s) and geographic area(s)

Key Responsibilities

Vessel performance

  • Monitor total booking velocity/trend, manage shortfalls/rollovers
  • Monitor vessel profile, drive cargo mix to maximise profitability
  • Proactively recommend trade strategy (to adapt to, and capitalise on changing market conditions) in terms of pricing adjustments, constraining or relaxing booking releases (in general, and also by specific segments - TL strategy/colour to apply)

Fulfilment of country origin allocations

  • Monitor and understand origins’ ability and/or challenges to achieve allocated volumes
  • Help resolve issues such as pricing, feeder, equipment shortage, etc.
  • Drive discussion with origin and HO teams to finetune allocations as necessary dependent on conditions

Customer performance (Trade PIC)

  • Negotiate pricing and volume commitment (MQC)
  • Drive delivery of volume commitment
  • Manage space allocations and ad-hoc pricing requests

Market intel

  • Keep up to speed with market rate adjustments
  • Proactively source for relevant information on market capacity changes
What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum Diploma Holder, preferably in shipping, logistics management or business administration
  • 1-2 years relevant working experience in the shipping / logistics / freight forwarding industry (Including technical skills, experiences & knowledge)
  • Proficient in MS Excel (Vlookup and Pivot Table)
  • Basic concept and understanding of shipping
