Job description

We are looking for a passionate and professional Senior Manager to join our Insights & Analytics team.

Based in Singapore and reporting into the Chief Data Officer, the incumbent is responsible for providing strategic analytical support and delivering data analytics capabilities, dashboards/reports, and insights to support Tote Board in analysing business use cases.

This includes managing the source of data, drawing insights, representing the insights via suitable visualisation/dashboards, periodic review of the insights considering new data, providing ad‑hoc analytical support to support management decision making, and automating existing manual dashboards and reports. The role will also be responsible for drafting, periodically reviewing & updating the data architecture which will guide the implementation of the data infrastructure & systems as well as the data governance covering enforcement of IT policies, drafting & maintaining standards and procedures, and leading the engagement of stakeholders to identify the business requirements for use of data. This role will contribute key requirements to enhance the technical data capabilities needed by Tote Board.

What You’ll Do
Data Analytics Capabilities & Operation Management
  • You will build data analytics capabilities from ground up, combining disparate datasets to derive value for the business.
  • You will ideate, propose and develop new dashboards, analytical insights and frameworks.
  • You will propose key metrics by which to measure business performance and effectiveness with respect to overall strategy.
  • You will work closely with business stakeholders to simplify, rationalise and automate existing dashboards and reports, reducing manual effort where possible.
  • You will refresh periodic management reports and dashboards, sharing analytical insights to relevant internal stakeholders.
  • You will work with IT on implementation of business dashboards and reports where required, create and enhance data capabilities including contribution of requirements for enhancement of existing reporting and analytics tools and platforms, ingestion of new data sources, and overcoming any technical challenges associated with data sources.
Business Partnering & Strategy
  • You will engage Senior Management to identify strategic & tactical data use cases, identify required datasets for analysis and draw insights for strategic business transformation.
  • You will engage and partner business stakeholders to identify key business issues and improvement opportunities on an ongoing basis.
  • You will deliver high‑quality, accurate and actionable analysis and insights primarily using internal data but also integrating other sources where useful (e.g. market research data).
  • You will break complex analysis down to the bottom line and communicate logically and articulately to Management.
  • You will influence stakeholders to take action through clear and relevant communication of insights and support data analytics teams and various business units with figures/data cuts where required.
  • You will effectively manage different stakeholders and internal customers who often have different sets of concerns.
Operational Management & Team Supervisory
  • You will supervise a direct report (SEO/AM level) on portfolio deliverables to ensure accuracy and quality as well as meeting SLA as agreed with business users, set performance targets and evaluate delivery against targets.
  • You will coach and mentor direct report on best practices to enable upskilling in data analytics and insighting.
  • You will assess and prioritise stakeholder requests and initiatives that come to the team on the basis of business value and feasibility.
  • You will share learnings and best practices on business analytics with the rest of the team.
  • You will understand and advise the team on a consistent approach across ongoing analytics & business initiatives.
Data Strategy & Architecture Implementation and Review
  • You will lead the development of the data architecture taking into consideration the business use case for data consumption and analysis.
  • You will review and update the data architecture periodically to ensure the systems and infrastructure are optimised for the business outcomes of the organisation.
  • You will lead the research on emerging trends, best‑in‑class practices and industry standards on data strategy and governance to support formulation of data strategy and governance framework.
  • You will oversee the periodic review (once every 2‑3 years) of data policy, data architecture and learning roadmap and present findings to the CDO to analyse and evaluate performance against planned data strategy.
  • You will oversee the team in monitoring and assessing risks in accordance with the organisation’s data risk management framework, and establish processes for the management of non‑compliance incidents.
Who You Are
  • You have a Degree in Data Science / Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • You have at least 8 years of relevant work experience in data analytics for private or public sector entities in Singapore.
  • You have experience in leading a team and/or managing direct reports, preferably data analysts.
  • You have experience writing SQL queries to manipulate complex datasets from enterprise data warehouse / data lake.
  • You are well versed in Excel modelling with experience creating business dashboards or simulation models.
  • You have strong business acumen, verbal, written and Powerpoint presentation skills and stakeholder management skills.
  • You have the ability to initiate, drive change and navigate in an environment with a degree of ambiguity and uncertainty.
  • You are effective in managing / supervising, coaching and motivating the team.
  • You are highly logical, have a systematic mindset, a team player yet independent and a fast learner.
  • You have experience in information systems design, data architecture development, policy formulation, data asset management, data modelling, data warehousing and data related solutions.
  • Experience in data visualization platforms e.g., Tableau, automation and ML tools are an added advantage.
