Job description
PURPOSE

The Senior/ Legal Counsel (SEA), a newly created position to be based in Singapore, will advise and support on legal matters arising in the Southeast Asia markets (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam).

You will be part of Richemont APAC Legal that deals with a wide spectrum of legal, compliance and corporate affairs topics. You will play a crucial role in strengthening the APAC Legal Team as part of the “One Legal Team” within Richemont Corporate Affairs by providing legal advice and general support to team members, while consistently promoting legal and operational excellence and fostering seamless collaboration with other Group Legal teams and business stakeholders regionally and globally. The protection of the Richemont Group’s and its Maisons’ reputation, as well as the reinforcement of the Group’s social licence to operate in line with its foundations, are paramount to all activities undertaken by you.

Key Result Areas And Main Responsibilities
  • Provide timely and results-oriented legal advice and support on a wide variety of matters across all lines of business to the Maisons and Functions operating in the SEA markets.
  • Respond to ad hoc queries to include identification, analysis and evaluation of risks in order to provide appropriate legal solutions.
  • Negotiate, review, comment on and draft a wide variety of legal and commercial documents, in areas such as leases, marketing/PR and services, HR, finance, consumers, etc.
  • Work in close cooperation with a variety of Richemont entities and with the support functions of the Richemont Group and teams and liaise with and manage external counsels.
REQUIREMENT

Knowledge and Skills

  • Solid grasp of the principles of law and ability to adapt work quickly when dealing with different tasks in fields of law (even where your experience may have been limited).
  • Strong team player with excellent project management and communication skills.
  • Result and business oriented, open-minded, excellent analytical and organizational skills with the ability to work in close cooperation with both internal and external lawyers and non-lawyer colleagues.
  • Excellent drafting skills.
  • Sound commercial judgment, strong intellect and confidence to take the lead in negotiations with both internal and external counterparties.
  • Articulate proposals clearly, balance the requirement for technical expertise, and ability to recognise the bigger commercial picture.
  • Preferably with experience in real estate / employment law / retail / FMCG.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines, and still balance multiple priorities and contribute thoughtful and high-quality work.
  • Independent, disciplined, self-motivated with high degree of integrity and work ethics.
  • Occasional travel required.
Education & Experience
  • Qualified lawyer (preferably in SEA markets) with at least 5-10 years post-qualification experience in providing legal advice on a wide variety of legal matters in an international environment. A combination of private practice and in-house experience preferred.
  • Commercial/contract law experience with proven drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Fluent in English. Other languages (e.g. Mandarin) is an asset.
  • Experienced in AI use and prompting with a strong interest in new AU use cases and related technologies.
  • Good command of MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
