Job summary

A leading data center company in Singapore is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to provide comprehensive legal support for data center development, commercial agreements, and compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Law, and between 5 to 10 years of relevant legal experience, particularly in data centers and digital infrastructure. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • 5–10+ years PQE in private practice and/or in-house.
  • Experience in data centers, digital infrastructure, or telecommunications preferred.
  • Strong experience in drafting and negotiating complex contracts.

Senior Legal Counsel (Data Center)

We are representing a leading data center and digital infrastructure company seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to support its regional/global operations. This role will provide end-to-end legal support across data center development, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and strategic projects working closely with business, technical, and regional stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will be commercially minded, able to operate in a fast‑paced environment, and comfortable supporting complex, cross‑border matters.

Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Contractual Support
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including:
  • Data center colocation and hosting agreements, cloud, connectivity, and managed services contracts, vendor, supply, and technology agreements, NDAs, MOUs, SLAs, and partnership agreements. Support enterprise customer negotiations and advise on risk allocation, liability, and pricing‑related legal issues.
Data Center Development & Operations
  • Provide legal support for data center development projects, including site acquisition, leasing, construction, and operations.
  • Advise on contracts with EPCs, contractors, equipment suppliers, and facilities management providers.
  • Support issues relating to power supply, energy efficiency, sustainability, and utility arrangements.
Regulatory & Compliance
  • Advise on applicable laws and regulations impacting data center operations, including licensing, zoning, data protection, cybersecurity, and environmental requirements.
  • Monitor regulatory developments across relevant jurisdictions and assess impact on business operations.
  • Support internal compliance programs, policies, and governance frameworks.
Corporate & Strategic Matters
  • Support corporate matters including entity setup, corporate secretarial matters, and inter‑company arrangements.
  • Assist with M&A, joint ventures, and strategic investments, including due diligence and transaction documentation.
  • Work with external counsel on complex or jurisdiction‑specific matters, managing costs and deliverables.
Stakeholder Management
  • Act as a trusted legal advisor to internal stakeholders across commercial, operations, engineering, finance, and senior management.
  • Balance legal risk with commercial objectives and provide practical, solutions‑oriented advice.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law and qualification to practice in at least one common law jurisdiction.
  • 5–10+ years PQE (depending on level) in private practice and/or in‑house.
  • Experience in data centers, digital infrastructure, technology, energy, telecommunications, or large‑scale infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
  • Strong experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
  • Familiarity with data protection, technology, and regulatory issues affecting data center operations.
  • Able to work independently, manage multiple matters concurrently, and operate in a fast‑growing environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with senior stakeholders across regions.
