ABOUT THE POSITION

The role of Legal Counsel for Asia-Pacific is a front-line role in drafting, negotiating and delivering Fluence’s supply and services contracts with customers and suppliers. This position offers an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the commercial arrangements of a global organization and an opportunity to work at the forefront of Asia’s renewable energy transition.

The role will be part of Fluence’s Legal Team, based in Singapore. This position offers an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the effective, accurate and profitable operations of a global organization with the mission to change the way we power our world.

We’d love to tell you more about Fluence and the role when we meet, but first let’s talk about you.

Required skills:

• You are responsible, agile, leading and fun. (Hint: these are Fluence’s core values, and we mean it. Seriously.)
• You have a solid legal background with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a legal counsel either in private practice or in-house. You understand what a dynamic organization expects of its legal team and excel in such environments.
• Ideally, you have some experience in industrial equipment, construction or utility projects. If your experience comes from the renewable energy or energy storage sector, we might think you are very fancy indeed.
• You will provide support for full project life cycle, including working on commercial offers and RFP responses, project contracting, solving delivery issues and supporting our services team.
• You have experience working in a fast-moving, international environment in which no two days are the same. You may need to travel some time, mostly within Asia.
• You read legalese fluently, but you never, ever speak legalese. You enjoy boring your family and friends with your vast knowledge of legal matters that come up in the life of an international group of companies.
• You probably began your career by laboring happily in a swanky law firm or have been exposed to the joy of an in-house legal department.
• You have excellent judgment, both in business and interpersonal matters, except you like lawyers.
• You have a strong commercial mindset. That is, a clear ability place commercial risk in a legal context.
• A willingness to develop your negotiation skills so you can lead and close some of Fluence’s most interesting transactions globally.
• The ability to manage different priorities while always staying focused on the bigger goal.
• You have impeccable ethics and a commitment to compliance and safety. (We don’t make jokes about compliance or safety.)
• For business purposes, proficiency in Mandarin is required, and having knowledge of Japanese is an additional advantage!
• You are based in Singapore. We have a fancy office here that we’d love you to help fill. Some amount of routine business travel should be expected.
