Job summary

A leading clinical research organization in Singapore seeks an IT Support Specialist to manage IT assets, provide helpdesk support, and conduct system maintenance. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in IT support, hands-on experience with desktop and server troubleshooting, and relevant certifications. Responsibilities include managing IT operations on a daily basis and supporting regional IT issues. Strong communication skills in both English and Mandarin are required.

  • MCSE in Windows Server and RHCSA in Linux server or equivalent.

Job description

Provide IT support operation on daily basis:

  • IT asset management (include hardware and software) – manage all company IT asset with proper traceability record;
  • Support HR on all employee on‑board/off‑board process including IT training;
  • Provide all IT system setup and admin work (file control, VPN setup and special software admin support);
  • IT Level 1 helpdesk support to all company staff including remote users worldwide – PC issues, office printer, phone system or network related issues;
  • Troubleshooting AD/DC, Exchange server, File Server and Application server issues and provide solutions;
  • Troubleshoot and configure the firewall, router and switch when issues arise;
  • Escalate to 3rd party IT support vendor if issue couldn’t be fixed within the same day, coordinate with vendor to resolve within TAT and document all IT issues and solutions;
  • Liaise with IT vendor management, including hardware/software quotation, costing, PR process and make proposals if recommended system tools are needed.

System maintenance work on regular basis:

  • All system backup (file server backup, NAS storage backup, offline backup activity), verify all backup files are working properly;
  • Coordinate with department heads on storage clean‑up including file server, SharePoint and NetApp;
  • Monitor server room temperature and humidity, ensuring all equipment (e.g., UPS) is in good condition;
  • Pulse check all server, router and firewall logs, flagging abnormal activities immediately;
  • Regularly update antivirus tools and Windows system patches.

IT governance and direction:

  • Maintain all IT related records (contract, agreement, software authorization, etc.) and regularly update or renew on time;
  • Keep updating and release new IT P&P (Policy & Procedure), BCP (Business Continuity Plan) and DRP (Disaster Recovery Plan);
  • Work with finance and country IT support on yearly IT budgeting and review quarterly;
  • Assist external or internal auditor on IT compliance or ISO related audit;
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and provide justification to management.

IT‑related projects management (Ad Hoc or ongoing) and provide weekly updates to management:

  • IT project plan, budgeting and proposal;
  • IT project verification and provide necessary training to end users;
  • IT project sign‑off and documentation.Additional responsibilities:
    • Any reasonable task assigned by management deemed within the individual’s capabilities to ensure smooth running of the business.
    • As this is an evolving business, ongoing change is integral – the individual must embrace and adopt any change to working practices as liaised by management.

    Knowledge and skill requirements:

    • Diploma in IT related discipline with at least 3‑years relevant experience in IT support or maintenance.
    • Hands‑on IT support experience including Desktop/Laptop support, printer, LAN/WAN, router, switches, firewall support.
    • MCSE in Windows Server and RHCSA in Linux server or equivalent hands‑on experience.
    • CGEIT preferred or IT governance experience in IT policy or security.
    • SAP working experience good to have.
    • Able to remotely support regional IT issues (CN, TW); both English and Mandarin read/write required to liaise with Mandarin‑speaking associates.
    • Good negotiation/communication skills with IT contractors or external IT suppliers.
