We are currently partnered with an international global group of companies with a Commodities Trading division that focuses on Cementitious products such as Clinker, Cement, Limestone, GBFS, GGBFS, Coal etc with annual volumes stands at 12+ Mio tons and volumes continues to grow. We are looking for a Senior Chartering Manager to take over existing portfolio from a chartering standpoint.

This role can be based out of either Singapore or Dubai dependent on the preferences of the individual and will work in tandem with another experienced Charterer based out of Europe. It is worth noting that the freight team does not run on its own P&L and is more of a support function to the commodity traders. The role would be ideal for someone that has worked for both a ship owner and a ship broker. Our client is of the opinion that this combination of perspectives would work perfectly for their requirements. The role itself will report into the COO of the organization.

There would be potential for this person to develop into a Head of Chartering function once their volumes increase and there is more of a need for a small team.

Chartering & Negotiation
  • Identify and secure chartering opportunities for bulk cargoes.
  • Negotiate freight rates, terms, and conditions with shipowners, brokers, and other stakeholders.
  • Optimize chartering strategiesทร maximize cost‑efficiency and operational performance.
Market Analysis & Strategy
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, freight rates, and vessel availability.
  • Develop and implement chartering strategies aligned with company goals and market conditions.
Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with shipowners, brokers and other key industry players.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Traders, logistics, operations and finance to ensure seamless cargo transportation and handling.
Operational Oversight
  • Oversee the planning and execution of bulk cargo shipments.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and contractual obligations.
  • Resolve any issues or disputes related to chartering and cargo transportation.
Reporting & Documentation
  • Prepare and present regular reports on chartering activities, market trends and performance metrics.
  • Maintain accurate records of chartering agreements, contracts and correspondence.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Business, Logistics or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in bulk cargo chartering or a similar role within the commodities trading or shipping industry.
  • Strong understanding of bulk cargo logistics, chartering practices and market dynamics.
  • Exceptional negotiation, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
