Job summary

An international school in Singapore is seeking an experienced SENDCO (Head of Inclusion) to lead the SEND strategy and manage the Inclusion Team. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience, a post-graduate diploma in special education, and training in safeguarding. This role involves assessing and supporting students with additional learning needs, ensuring effective classroom support, and reporting on student progress.

Qualifications

Job description

SMMIS is looking to hire an experienced SENDCO (Head of Inclusion) to start in August 2026.

SENDCO (Head of Inclusion)
  • To lead, develop and oversee the implementation of the school’s SEND (Inclusion) strategy and policy.
  • To manage the Inclusion Team (SEND & ESAL), and to deliver relevant training for all staff.
  • To assess children who have long or short-term additional learning needs and work with colleagues to identify individual students' additional educational needs.
  • To assess, record and report on the progress, development and attainment of students, and to participate in Raising Attainment meetings.
  • To ensure the effective/efficient deployment of classroom support (Inclusion Team) in the classroom.
  • To undertake a designated programme of teaching for students with additional needs.
  • To maintain a high level of knowledge and awareness of the changes and developments in the fields of SEND Education.
  • To liaise with other professionals such as School Counsellor, Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists and Educational Psychologists.
  • To maintain appropriate records and to keep these secure.
Requirement
  • Post-graduate Diploma in Special Education and Counselling or equivalent.
  • Safeguarding (Child Protection) Training.
  • At least 8 years' post qualification experience.
  • Experience of working in the International School system in Singapore would be an advantage.
