Job description
Overview

Our Circular Process Technology Section develops pre-treatment processes for resource to enable various “R” paths to close the resource loop, which include segregation, decontamination and secondary waste treatment. Our team is dedicated to drive processes to close the loop in the manufacturing value chain, and using chemical-free or mild chemical-assisted processes. We are currently seeking a skilled engineer to join our team, focusing on utilising surface and interface knowledge to design and engineer processes to pre-treat resources streams for various manufacturing sectors and to support the multidisciplinary nature of the projects in the team.

Job Description

We are seeking a Research Engineer with background in chemistry or materials science and engineering, with expertise in surface and interface science or material processing. Preferences will be given to candidates with experience in surface and interface treatment or have experience in designing prototypes and scaling processes from lab to pilot production. This role requires a good understanding of surface and interface science, characterisation techniques, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with research teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and optimise pre-treatment processes for multi-material segregation, which could be dissimilar material or coating debonding
  • Use surface and interface characterisation techniques (e.g., SEM, FTIR, mechanical tester) to analyse and verify process effectiveness
  • Prepare and present technical reports, presentations, publications, and technical disclosures based on innovative research in surface pre-treatment technologies
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables to ensure that milestones are met in accordance with project objectives
  • Communicate regularly with project stakeholders to provide updates on progress and address any technical challenges or concerns
Qualifications
  • B.Sc in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemistry and Engineering, or a related science and engineering field
  • Proven experience working in a laboratory setting, with strong understanding of surface and interface processes or material processing
  • Ability to work effectively independently
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and prepare presentation and reports
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant laboratory environment, with knowledge of relevant safety regulations and procedures
Preferred Skills
  • Good hands-on experience with system maintenance
  • Experience in using analytical equipment such as SEM-EDX, ICP-OES and FTIR
  • Experience in designing prototypes and scaling processes from lab to pilot production
Why Join Us
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package
  • Work at the forefront of smart and sustainable manufacturing
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development in a dynamic and innovative environment
  • Career growth opportunities in a collaborative, high-impact work environment
  • Support for continued professional development
