A top educational institution in Singapore is looking for a Research Associate for a project focused on heritage diplomacy. The Asia Research Institute (ARI) of the National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking an exceptional candidate to work as a Research Associate under a Singapore Ministry of Education funded multi‑disciplinary project titled ‘Heritage Diplomacy: connecting histories and futures' directed by Prof Tim Winter (PI) and Assoc Prof Sher Banu (Co‑Pi), Assoc Prof Maitrii Aung Thwin (Co‑PI), Assoc Prof Hamzah Muzaini (Co‑PI).
The successful applicant will be offered a fixed‑term contract of two years from the date of hire, with an option to renew for another two years. They will receive an attractive monthly remuneration depending on experience and qualifications.
The Research Associate will assist the PIs and collaborators conduct research as they work on or around the project's central themes:
They will be responsible for record‑keeping, correspondence, data management, and communication. The role will involve gathering and analysing artefact and visual/video data in preparation for publications and an exhibition at the Asian Civilisations Museum.
The ideal candidate will have an Master's Degree in either history, heritage and/or museum studies, historical geography, sociology/public policy, and be willing to work across disciplines. There may be some travel involved to Southeast and East Asia, although the project will be based in Singapore.
