Incorporated in Singapore on 1st July 2002, Merlin MD is presently developing innovative, life-saving and life-enhancing devices for the treatment of cerebral aneurysms. Its technology platform, however, is applicable to multiple clinical indications. Job Summary
You will contribute to the design and development of innovative medical devices by leading prototyping, testing, and process development activities. This role supports product development and manufacturing release while ensuring compliance with engineering and risk management standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop new device designs, assemblies, manufacturing processes, and applications to advance product innovation
- Generate detailed material and component specifications to ensure quality and compliance
- Create comprehensive test protocols, reports, and manufacturing instructions to guide evaluation and production
- Organize and maintain the R&D laboratory to support efficient development workflows
- Produce precise engineering drawings for devices and fixtures to facilitate prototyping and manufacturing
- Prototype and build devices and fixtures for design evaluation and testing to validate functionality and performance
- Assist in developing assembly and manufacturing processes to optimize production efficiency and quality
- Execute testing and design evaluation, verification, and validation activities according to written test procedures to ensure product safety and efficacy
- Support risk management activities by identifying and mitigating potential design and manufacturing risks
- Inspect components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies during pilot builds to maintain quality standards
- Communicate technical information clearly and effectively through verbal and written means to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Work independently with minimal supervision to meet project milestones and deliverables
- Support product development, manufacturing, and product release activities to ensure timely market introduction
- Perform additional duties as directed by Senior Management to support organizational goals
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience in design and product development within the medical device industry or related fields such as precision manufacturing or aerospace engineering
- Familiarity with catheters and stents design and development
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Knowledge and competency in Electromagnetic Compatibility, MRI safety, Ethylene Oxide Sterilization, and Biocompatibility
