Job summary

A leading engineering company in Singapore seeks a Quality Inspector to perform routine inspections and quality checks in data centres. The role involves ensuring compliance with standards, managing vendor performance, and maintaining accurate documentation. Candidates should have a diploma in a relevant field and 1-3 years of experience in facilities management or quality inspection. Strong attention to detail and proficiency in MS Office are essential for this position.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in FM, building services, M&E operations, or quality inspection.
  • Experience in data centre or mission-critical environments is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of basic mechanical and electrical systems (UPS, generators, chillers, HVAC).

Responsibilities

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Daily Quality Checks & Inspections – Conduct routine inspections of data centre facilities including CRAC/CRAH rooms, UPS rooms, generators, chillers, switchrooms, plant rooms, and common areas. Verify compliance with SOPs, method statements, checklists, and maintenance standards. Identify defects, non‑conformities, leaks, abnormal noises, temperature deviations, cleanliness issues, or safety hazards.
  • Documentation & Record Control – Ensure all maintenance records, checklists, logs, PTW forms, calibration certificates, and inspection reports are accurate and properly filed. Update quality logs and support documentation required for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and TIA‑942 compliance. Assist with version control of SOPs, EOPs, and technical documentation.
  • Quality Audits – Support internal audits by gathering evidence, preparing checklists, and tracking findings. Conduct spot‑checks on vendor activities to ensure proper execution and adherence to approved procedures. Verify completion of preventive maintenance (PPM), corrective maintenance (CM), and statutory inspections.
  • Vendor & Contractor Oversight – Monitor vendor performance on‑site to ensure work quality aligns with specifications and safety standards. Confirm proper PPE usage, tool calibration, and adherence to PTW and LOTO procedures. Report unsafe practices or deviations to the Quality Manager.
  • Incident & Defect Management – Log defects, NCRs (non‑conformance reports), and quality issues in the quality database. Support root cause analysis for incidents or recurring defects. Follow up on rectification works and verify closure of NCRs or corrective actions.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Support – Assist in ensuring compliance with SCDF, BCA, MOM, NEA, SS 553, SS 564, SS 568, and other data centre‑specific standards. Support readiness for client audits, external audits, and certification processes.
  • Reporting & Quality Analytics – Compile daily/weekly inspection summaries and highlight repeat issues or potential risks. Track performance against KPIs and SLAs (PPM completion, incident closure, response timelines). Support the Quality Manager in preparing monthly reports for clients and management.
Requirements
  • Qualifications – Nitec / Higher Nitec / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Facilities Management, Quality, or related engineering fields. ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or internal auditor training is an advantage. TIA‑942 / SS 564 familiarity is desirable.
  • Experience – 1–3 years of experience in FM, building services, M&E operations, or quality inspection. Experience in data centre or mission‑critical environments is an advantage. Strong understanding of basic mechanical and electrical systems (UPS, generators, chillers, HVAC).
  • Skills – Strong attention to detail and high accuracy in documentation. Ability to identify defects, hazards, and non‑compliance issues. Good communication skills to coordinate with technicians, engineers, and vendors. Proficiency in MS Office, CAFM/CMMS, and digital inspection tools.
