Job description
Job Purpose

As a key contributor to the Singapore Red Cross’ Resource Development Department, you will be instrumental in developing and expanding the influence of our Social Enterprise initiatives. This involves steering the strategy, operations, and innovation behind the Red Cross Shops, located at Red Cross House and the Red Cross Training Campsite. You will oversee daily retail operations, manage logistics planning and execution, cultivate partnerships, and mobilize a dedicated volunteer team to invigorate the shops. This presents a unique opportunity to merge purpose-driven retail with humanitarian efforts, transforming contributions into tangible support for those in need. This position offers the potential for conversion to a full-time role for exceptional performance and provides valuable experience in diverse fundraising scenarios and skill sets, making it an ideal path for individuals pursuing a career in the Social Service sector.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Partnerships
  • Supervise all facets of retail operations, including inventory management, merchandising, and enhancing the customer experience at the Red Cross Shops.
  • Identify and execute innovative business concepts to increase shop revenue and amplify impact, such as conceiving and organizing thematic sales campaigns, pop-up events, and community bazaars to boost visibility and customer engagement.
  • Ensure all operations adhere to internal financial and administrative guidelines.
  • Ensure all operations comply with internal financial and administrative policies.
  • Maintain and regularly update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and accountability.
Donor-in-Kind & Logistics Management
  • Coordinate the logistics of donation collection, meticulous documentation, and efficient item distribution.
Volunteer Leadership & Engagement
  • Lead and inspire a team of committed volunteers by scheduling shifts and organizing engaging activities.
  • Provide guidance and support to equip volunteers for both front-line and behind-the-scenes responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams for volunteer deployment, logistical coordination, and on-site assistance.
Job Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum qualification: GCE 'O' Level or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in retail, social enterprises, or non-profit sectors is preferred and will be advantageous.
Skills & Attributes
  • Hold a valid Class 3 or 3A driving license.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective engagement with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Be self‑motivated, meticulous, and adaptable to evolving environments.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork, performance under pressure, and proactive initiative.
  • Proficient in logistics coordination and fundamental administrative processes.
Work Requirements
  • Availability to work weekends, public holidays, and various retail shifts as required.
  • Ability to commit beyond standard working hours, including evenings and extended periods during events, donation drives, or peak seasons.
  • Comfortable with a hands‑on approach, including physical setup and on‑site coordination when necessary.
