Job Summary

The Principal plays a critical role in fund-raising, evaluating potential investments and managing the investments, producing targeted results by shouldering crucial decisions and supervising daily activities. He is directly involved in fund-raising, market research, deal sourcing, due diligence and supporting the firm’s portfolio companies. The role requires a deep understanding of markets, industry and technology.

SPECIFIC GOAL: This position is specific to a highly qualified, driven and resourceful individual in the venture capital industry on a “Partner’s Track” to achieve fund raising targets for ShipsFocus Fund II or III.

Responsibilities

• Lead fund-raising initiatives by developing and executing strategic plans to secure capital from investors, driving measurable growth in funding.
• Conduct comprehensive market research to identify emerging trends and opportunities within the maritime and technology sectors to inform investment decisions.
• Source and evaluate potential investment opportunities by performing rigorous due diligence, assessing financial, technical, and strategic viability.
• Manage portfolio companies by providing strategic guidance and operational support to enhance business performance and value creation.
• Make critical investment decisions by analyzing data and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize returns and mitigate risks.
• Supervise daily investment activities to ensure alignment with fund objectives and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including industry experts, government agencies, and syndicating partners to strengthen investment strategies and ecosystem partnerships.
