Job description
DESCRIPTION

Are you ready to get in on the ground floor of Amazon's long-term initiative to design, launch and maintain a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites to provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world? It's Day 1 for Amazon's next billion-dollar business and we are looking for an entrepreneurial minded Principal Finance Manager to work in a start-up environment who is passionate about technology, who thinks and acts globally, who thrives in highly ambiguous environments and fast-paced settings, and who has the ability to independently create and implement solutions to complex business questions.

The successful candidate will be entrepreneurial by nature, a strategic thinker, analytical in approach, and have a demonstrated ability to develop financial models that provide intelligence for business decisions and able to leverage their project management skills to drive business objectives. This role requires a self-starter with advanced business modelling skills, a keen attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a track record of being a trusted advisor to senior leadership. The candidate must have the aptitude to incorporate new approaches and methodologies (including statistical concepts) while dealing with big data and be able to develop and define key business questions and to build data sets that answer those questions. The candidate must operate with full autonomy, make high judgment decisions independently and quickly, and be comfortable challenging business partners and senior leaders even when it's uncomfortable. The ideal candidate will set strategic vision in undefined environments, bring clarity to complexity, and influence decision-making at the organizational level.

Key job responsibilities
  • Design, develop and maintain long range financial models to project and evaluate business performance against key goals and metrics, setting strategic direction for financial planning across the organization
  • Perform strategic financial analysis of key go-to-market strategies, including partnership evaluation and sales strategy, with ability to challenge assumptions and influence senior leadership decisions
  • Support deal execution including participation in commercial negotiations, creation of deal P&L models, pricing and scenario analysis, financial health due diligence of partners, and FX strategy consultation, operating independently with minimal guidance
  • Create and implement revenue and cost models to be incorporated into business reviews, designing scalable mechanisms that can be leveraged across multiple teams
  • Own financial calendar and deliverables aligned to business objectives, proactively identifying strategic projects outside direct scope
  • Create and implement financial and operating performance metrics, identifying key call outs and drivers to senior management, and educating leaders on trade-offs and alternatives
  • Develop financial benchmarking analysis of key competitors, bringing strategic insights that shape organizational priorities and long-term growth strategies
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 12+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
  • 7+ years of finance technology, forecast & budgeting, or other finance-focused competency experience
  • Experience with Tableau, Python, SQB, Quicksight, Cognos or or other BI packages
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • MBA, or CPA
  • Experience in a leadership position managing finance, accounting and operational processes
