Our client is a global technology consultancy supporting large, business-critical data platforms for enterprise organisations across Asia‑Pacific. They are seeking a Principal Data Consultant to act as the technical authority for an enterprise data platform, owning its architecture, operational stability, and data reliability. This role sits at the intersection of business and engineering, partnering with senior stakeholders while leading platform design, cloud data operations, and data quality initiatives across distributed delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Data Platform Architecture

• Act as Technical Design Authority for a large‑scale enterprise data platform
• Own the architectural roadmap, data models, and platform evolution
• Ensure the platform supports advanced analytics, automation, and future use cases
• Lead Snowflake architecture including performance optimisation, warehouse sizing, and cost control
• Guide ingestion architecture using workflow orchestration and containerised workloads
• Enforce strong engineering standards and conduct architectural reviews before production

Platform Operations & Data Reliability

• Own day‑to‑day health and stability of the data platform
• Administer and optimise data validation and quality frameworks
• Monitor performance, usage, and cost efficiency across workloads
• Implement observability dashboards to track pipeline reliability and latency
• Analyse query performance and tune data structures and execution plans

Incident Management & Data Issue Resolution

• Act as senior escalation point for data reliability or integrity issues
• Lead triage and root‑cause analysis across pipelines and upstream systems
• Coordinate remediation efforts and validate fixes in controlled environments
• Continuously refine alerting thresholds to reduce noise and improve signal quality
• Apply advanced diagnostics and automation to accelerate issue resolution

Automation & Operational Excellence

• Automate recurring operational and maintenance tasks using Python or platform‑native tooling
• Define incident playbooks, severity frameworks, and post‑incident reviews
• Establish feedback loops to ensure operational issues inform architectural improvements
• Reduce manual toil through scalable, repeatable processes

Stakeholder & Advisory Engagement

• Partner with senior business and technology stakeholders on data platform strategy
• Translate business requirements into technical validation and control mechanisms
• Provide transparent reporting on data health and platform reliability
• Mentor engineers and consultants on best practices in data operations and quality

Qualifications & Experience

Required

• 12+ years in data engineering, software engineering, or solution architecture
• 8+ years designing and operating large‑scale data platforms or data warehouses
• 5+ years hands‑on experience with Snowflake and public cloud environments
• Strong background in consulting or client‑facing technical leadership roles
• Expert SQL skills, including complex transformations and performance optimisation
• Experience with workflow orchestration, containerised workloads, and Python‑based automation
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical risks in clear business terms

Preferred

• Snowflake or cloud platform certifications
• Experience leading recovery, stabilisation, or high‑risk enterprise data engagements
