Phlebotomy Assistant (Healthcare – Central Singapore, Full-Time) #HJG

Position Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and other specimen collection (blood, urine, fecal) according to established protocols
  • Label, centrifuge, split, freeze, and store specimens accurately, ensuring integrity and compliance with laboratory standards
  • Explain procedures clearly and courteously to patients, providing a calm and reassuring environment before, during, and after collection
  • Verify laboratory requisition forms against specimen tubes and test scripts to ensure 100% accuracy
  • Package and prepare specimens for transport following required procedures and temperature guidelines
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, record maintenance data, and perform decontamination tasks
  • Comply with all safety, regulatory, and quality control standards
  • Respond to patient or physician inquiries, including reading laboratory results over the phone when necessary
  • Attend annual departmental training and demonstrate proficiency in venipuncture techniques using straight or butterfly needles
  • Fully understand and follow physicians’ orders and laboratory protocols

Requirements

  • Minimum Nitec, Diploma, or Degree in Nursing or a science-related field
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience
  • SNB and BCLS licenses are an advantage
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and patient-focused communication
