Job summary

An English Tuition Centre in Singapore is seeking a Part-Time English Teacher to deliver engaging English and Creative Writing classes to Primary and Secondary School students. The role offers a flexible schedule and requires a passion for working with children, strong communication skills, and a relevant educational background. The ideal candidate will also undergo a comprehensive training program. This position is for committed individuals until the end of 2026.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience teaching children in a classroom setting preferred.
  • Familiar with the Singapore Primary/Secondary School English syllabus.
  • Graduate from a local university or Junior College preferred.

As a Part-Time English Teacher at The Alternative Story (T.A.S.), you will be teaching 2-hour English tuition and Creative Writing classes to Primary and/or Secondary School students. You will be empowered to do what you love and love what you do. With your passion and drive, you will make learning effective yet enjoyable for your students!

Solely focusing on teaching, you will have a unique opportunity to mould the next generation while enjoying flexibility in your schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Teach 2-hour English tuition and Creative Writing classes to Primary and/or Secondary School students.
  • Focus on teaching and create engaging learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with parents and students to support learning goals.
Required Qualifications
  • Passionate about working with children
  • Able to engage and effectively communicate with a group of children
  • Driven to improve yourself and produce excellent work
  • Collaborative and willing to go the extra mile for parents and students
  • Energetic, passionate and having a youthful attitude
  • Singaporeans holding Diploma/GCE A-Level qualifications and above
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of experience teaching children in a classroom setting (MOE and/or special needs teaching background is a plus)
  • Familiar with the Singapore Primary/Secondary School English syllabus and its challenges
  • Graduate from a local university (NUS, NTU, SMU) or local Junior College
  • Open to teach at least Primary or Secondary School English
Other Details of the Role
  • One-month paid training and mentorship programme to equip you to teach successfully
  • Attractive compensation package
  • Comprehensive theory and practical training will also be given on an ongoing basis, helping to continuously build your skills in areas such as communication, mentoring and problem solving
  • Take 2 - 4 classes, inclusive of minimally 1 weekend class (2 hours per class)
  • Able to work at one of the following locations at least - Tampines Central, Marine Parade Central, Ang Mo Kio, Bukit Timah
  • Commit to work until end of 2026

We seek to inspire in our students a proficiency and appreciation for the English language that sets them up for success in academics and in life.
