Capula is a leading global hedge fund, headquartered in London. We are seeking an experienced and proactive Operations Associate to join our Singapore office. This individual sits within Operations and serves as a dedicated control partner to the Compliance team as well as providing trading operations support for the investment team.

Key duties and responsibilities
UK EMIR and MAS Regulatory Reporting
- Monitor daily data feeds to trade repositories, identifying missing, inconsistent or rejected records.
- Provide daily oversight to ensure transaction data is submitted on time, including review of exceptions such as rejections, late submissions and potential breaches.
- Perform reconciliations between internal systems and repository data, highlighting discrepancies to Compliance and relevant Operations or Technology teams.
- Investigate breaks end to end, document findings clearly and track remediation through to closure.
- Coordinate with Operations, Technology and external vendors to resolve exceptions, data transfer errors and missing transaction attributes.
- Support post reporting activities by analysing exceptions raised by Compliance or vendors, assisting in correction of inaccurate or incomplete data and liaising with counterparties to resolve reconciliation breaks.
- Escalate unresolved or high-risk issues to Head of Trading Operations and Compliance.
- Maintain procedure documents, control maps and data dictionaries to ensure the Operations control framework remains accurate and current.
- Work with Technology, Compliance and external vendors to implement, maintain and improve reconciliation and assurance tools.
- Support regulatory change events by assessing how new rules impact data flows, controls and reconciliations.
- Contribute to operational process enhancements and system improvement projects, particularly where they affect data quality or reporting controls.
Trading Operations
- Understand trade flow process for all products traded by Front Office for different Capula funds/accounts and the role of Prime Brokers, Clearers and Administrators.
- Ensure that all new trades are matched with trade recaps (electronic platforms where applicable) and captured in Front Arena and fund administrator’s system correctly.
- Process unwinds and novations in the internal systems, MarkitWire/ICE (if applicable) and liaise with external parties to complete the process.
- Process post-trade events such as expiry events, compressions, corporate actions within internal systems by liaising with Prime Brokers and Trading desks if required.
- Perform reconciliations on trades captured through FIX connections, resolve root cause issues and elevate discrepancies.
- Monitor electronic matching platforms to ensure that all trades are matched and affirmed on trade date.
- Monitor system alerts throughout the day and ensure that all trade breaks are resolved on timely manner.
- Resolve trade discrepancies and any position-related queries with Front Office, Product Control, Market Risk, Administrators, Prime Brokers or counterparties.
- Monitor Bond and Repo settlements applicable for APAC currencies for all funds and managed accounts.
- Support the onboarding of new products, counterparties or third-party providers in the operations team and work with relevant internal teams, administrators and prime brokers to integrate them into the operational workflow.
- Work on ad-hoc projects relating to system enhancements and re-engineering of the operational flows.
Skills and Experience
- Educated to a degree level preferably in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in trading operations and regulatory transaction reporting, preferably within a hedge fund or buy-side firm.
- Strong understanding of UK EMIR and/or MAS transaction reporting requirements from data and control perspective.
- Good knowledge of trade repositories such as DTCC, UnaVista or Regis, including how data is submitted, validated and reconciled.
- Proficient in key industry systems including Bloomberg, Outlook, CTM, Traiana, MarkitWire and other operational platforms.
- Advanced Excel capability and experience with structured datasets and coding skills such as SQL, VBA or Python are highly beneficial.
- Solid grasp of front to back trade lifecycle processes and how trade data is sourced, enriched and transmitted.
- Clear and confident communicator, able to explain technical data issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Fluent in both spoken and written English.
- Able to work effectively across internal stakeholders, external vendors and counterparties.
- Highly organised, capable of managing multiple investigations, tasks and deadlines simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.
- Numerate, fast thinking and comfortable working in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
