The Role

As an operator within JVLN's Oil operations team you will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of Crude Oil cargo operations, ensuring timely delivery, cost efficiency, and risk mitigation. The ideal person would have at least a couple of years' experience within an operator role ideally in an Oil Major or trading company.

Key Responsibilities Include
  • Oversee end-to-end crude oil operations, including nominations, shipping documentation, cargo delivery and voyage execution
  • Coordinate with traders, charterers, shipowners, counterparties and inspection companies to ensure timely and efficient cargo operations
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts
  • Prepare, review, and verify shipping documents such as bills of lading, certificates of quantity/quality, cargo manifests, and other contractual documents
  • Monitor voyage progress and provide updates on vessel status, delays, or operational issues
  • Ensure compliance with contractual terms, Incoterms, and relevant trade regulations
  • Manage laytime calculations, demurrage claims, cargo claims and operational costs, ensuring prompt settlement with counterparties
  • Handle inventory and cargo reconciliation between terminals, refineries, and counterparties
  • Support traders with operational insights, logistics optimization, and risk mitigation
  • Maintain accurate records and operational reports in line with internal controls and audit requirements
  • Liaise with finance and risk teams for timely invoicing, payment follow-ups, and performance reporting
Requirements
Experience
  • Circa 3 - 5 years' relevant experience in crude oil operations (preferably with oil trading company or oil major)
  • Previous experience in analytical or trade support functions is highly regarded
  • Bachelor's degree
Skills
  • Solid understanding of shipping logistics, trade documentation, and international crude oil trade practices
  • Proficient in MS Office and trading/operations systems (e.g., ETRM)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
  • Proactive communicator, easily able to disperse complex information into digestible formats to a range of stakeholders
  • Strong teamwork and organizational abilities, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset
