Job summary

A leading marine services company in Singapore is seeking a GMDSS Radio Inspector. The successful candidate will perform radio surveys on vessels, issue certificates, and provide technical support for marine navigation systems. Requirements include an Electronics & Electrical engineering degree, a valid General Operators Certificate, and a minimum of 5 years experience in the field. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to maritime safety and compliance with international regulations.

Qualifications

  • Completed an Electronics & Electrical engineering degree.
  • Possess a valid GOC or General Operators Certificate.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as Radio Surveyor onboard the vessel.
  • At least 5 years experience in servicing and troubleshooting marine navigation systems.
  • Knowledgeable on all IMO regulations regarding Radio Survey requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate radio survey onboard the vessel as per IMO Regulation.
  • Issue certificate and checklist to Class Surveyor and Master.

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot marine navigation equipment.

Job description
Duties and Responsibilities
  • As GMDSS Radio Inspector, you will be performing accurate radio survey onboard the vessel as per IMO Regulation for all GMDSS radio equipment.
  • After carrying out the radio survey with no error, you are responsible to issue the certificate and checklist to Class Surveyor and Master.
  • Provide advice on GMDSS equipment for safety navigation and conform to IMO, SOLAS and non‑SOLAS rules when applicable.
  • Prepare survey report or spectral analysis or site scan when applicable.
  • Timely renewal of class accreditations or certifications, and get new approval for survey when required.
  • As a Marine NavCom Service Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support and services related to marine navigation and communication systems.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot marine navigation and communication equipment.
  • Perform regular maintenance and repair works on navigation and communication systems.
  • Conduct inspections and testing of equipment to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to customers regarding system operation and functionality.
  • Prepare and submit detailed service reports and documentation.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in marine navigation and communication technology.
  • Communicate with customers and all stakeholders for smooth completion of jobs.
  • Understand and follow safety and quality procedures without fail.
  • Serve as IT person‑in‑charge for the office.
Job Requirements

  • Able to plan and work independently and in a team.
  • Willing to travel and work onboard ships and other sites as required.
