Job summary

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Conduct Radio Surveys for GMDSS equipment in accordance with required standards.
  • Perform installation, troubleshooting, servicing, and repair of marine navigation systems such as:
    • Marine Radar
    • Gyro Compass / Magnetic Compass
    • Autopilot
    • Echo Sounder
    • Speed Log
    • Steering Systems (FFU/NFU)
    • Weather Fax
    • Wind Speed/Direction systems
  • Perform installation, troubleshooting, servicing, and commissioning of marine communication systems including:
    • GMDSS
    • VHF/UHF
    • MF/HF SSB
    • NBDP / NDB
    • Navtex
    • Inmarsat / FBB
    • Local Area Networks
    • Email & onboard communication systems
  • Provide technical support to service coordinators through email and phone.
  • Execute jobs at shipyards, vessels at anchorage, and overseas locations, including installation, commissioning, servicing, troubleshooting, repairs, and warranty-related work.
  • Ensure all test results and commissioning activities comply with required standards.
  • Prepare and complete installation, commissioning, and service reports accurately.
  • Maintain detailed records of service, maintenance, warranty, and repair activities.
  • Liaise with service coordinators and suppliers to provide technical solutions and follow-up on equipment defect reports.
  • Experience with systems such as Radar, Echo Sounder, Autopilot, Speed Log, Radio Equipment, MF/HF, VHF, FleetBroadband, VSAT, etc., will be an added advantage.
Requirements
  • Valid GOC (General Operator’s Certificate) for conducting Radio Surveys.
  • Manufacturer training and approvals for marine communication equipment are strongly preferred.
  • Nitec / Higher Nitec / Diploma in Electronics, Communications, RF Technology, Marine Engineering, or relevant field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in the marine or offshore industry, especially in installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of navigation and communication equipment.
  • Able to travel overseas, often on short notice.
  • Completion of Shipyard Safety Instruction Course (or willing to obtain).
