Job summary

A multinational corporation in Singapore seeks a Legal Counsel/Senior Legal Counsel to provide legal support on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience and a law degree from a common law jurisdiction. Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating contracts and advising on compliance, dispute resolution, and risk management. Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin is preferred for client communications. A high degree of integrity and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

Job Descriptions

As a Legal Counsel/Senior Legal Counsel of the Group, you will assist the Head of department in providing legal support and advice on all corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters stemming from the Group's global businesses.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts in a variety of areas of commercial, corporate, finance, and compliance relating to multiple industries including logistics & transportation, maritime, and mining & energy.
  • Provide legal desk support and advice to internationally based business units and divisions on various transactions and activities.
  • Advise on matters of dispute resolution and risk management.
  • Manage and engage external counsel as necessary.
  • Ensure company activities in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Assist in and take responsibility for other duties and special projects as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • A law degree and admission to practice in a common law jurisdiction (Singapore/UK/Australia/US) required.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in private practice with an international law firm or in-house at a multinational company.
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese preferred to liaise with Chinese speaking clients as the case may be.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • A high degree of integrity, maturity and ability to work independently under pressure with an eye for details.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
