Legal Counsel (Commodities Industry)

To support the company’s international business expansion and management needs, we are seeking a qualified lawyer proficient in common law (UK/US) to provide legal support for international trade, cross-border M&A, overseas business development, and global operations.

Responsibilities
  • Legal Document Review: Review and provide legal opinions on international trade contracts, related performance documents, and legal materials for cross-border M&A projects governed by common law.
  • International Trade Dispute Resolution: Handle litigation, arbitration, and potential disputes arising from international trade involving overseas counterparties or cross-border performance, including evidence collection, negotiation, strategy formulation, hearings, and enforcement.
  • Cross-Border Law Firm Management: Leverage the advantages of our Singapore platform to establish and enhance collaborations with law firms specializing in common law, strengthening external legal support for routine and project-based matters.
  • Investment Project Management: Provide legal support for overseas investment projects, including due diligence, transaction document review, and drafting legal opinions.
  • Overseas Compliance Management: Oversee and advance compliance efforts, including export controls, antitrust regulations, and other cross-border compliance matters.
  • Other Duties: Additional tasks assigned by the department.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of legal experience in large corporations or renowned law firms. Prior experience in commodity trading or cross-border M&A legal work is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, major in Law, Legal Studies, International Trade, etc.
  • Licensed to practice law in at least one jurisdiction (e.g., Hong Kong, Singapore, the UK, or the US), with expertise in international trade and cross-border investment, and a deep understanding of global trade rules.
  • Familiarity with corporate legal affairs management, capable of handling both litigation and non-litigation matters, with strong experience in cross-border legal issues.
  • High energy level, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and willingness to travel internationally.
  • Fluency in English and Chinese (written and spoken) in order to liaise with English and Chinese speaking stakeholders.
