Job summary

A service provider in Singapore is looking for a kitchen helper to assist with food preparation and cleanliness during cookery lessons. The role requires at least one year of kitchen experience and a valid Food Safety certification. Work hours are Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm with no service on weekends and public holidays.

Job description
Overview

Contract Period: From 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2026 with an option to extend the Contract for a further period 1 year.

Working hours
  • Mondays to Fridays: 7:30am to 4:00am, inclusive of 0.5 hour lunch break.
  • Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays.
Scope of Services
  1. Preparation of food ingredients for cookery lessons.
  2. Take in the day’s food orders delivered. Put food orders on trays for the respective teachers. Clear unwanted packaging or boxes by same day.
  3. Teachers will brief kitchen helper on the week’s practical lessons and give recipe and sample of layout so that kitchen helper can start preparations for the morning classes.
  4. Fill up the soaps, check the cutlery and equipments are in place for each unit.
  5. Assist teachers during lessons such as replenish items, and assist students with cookers, ovens, grill, blenders, steamers, mop spills, etc.
  6. After lessons, kitchen helper is to help clean up and stock check food items for kitchen and carry forward leftovers. Prepare for late morning’s lessons where needed.
  7. After lessons, check all cookers are switched off, sinks are clean, cookers are clean and rubbish is disposed of by the same day. Clear the centre store table by the same day.
  8. Check In-tray for additional instructions for the day and put in Out-tray when completed.
  9. Fax food orders (if any) before 2pm of each day and call the food supplier to confirm receipt of order. Leave the faxed order forms in teacher’s tray in office.
Qualifications, skills and experience
  1. At least 1 year of experience working in a kitchen environment.
  2. Shall have a valid Workforce Skills Qualification Food Safety Course Level 1 certification conducted by a SkillsFuture Singapore approved training provider.
