Job description
Role Overview

The Investment Analyst role sits at the core of the investment and portfolio execution function. This is an execution-focused position, responsible for the accurate and timely execution of client trades across multiple asset classes and counterparties.

The role is not a hedge fund trading role and not a pure research position. It requires strong technical discipline, a deep understanding of trade mechanics, and a zero-error mindset when operating in live market environments.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior investment professionals, supporting portfolio implementation, pricing, operational controls, and ongoing optimisation of execution and reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities

Trade Execution & Operational Control

  • Execute client trades across FX, equity derivatives (ETD), OTC instruments, and structured products with multiple banks and counterparties.
  • Perform strict pre-trade validation and post-trade reconciliation, ensuring full adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements.
  • Own the end-to-end trade lifecycle, including pricing checks, confirmations, reconciliations, and operational loop closure.
  • Maintain a zero-error execution mindset; accuracy and process discipline are critical.

Pricing, Analytics & Reporting

  • Provide pricing support and market insights to internal stakeholders and advisors.
  • Analyse large datasets to produce trading activity reports, execution MI, and performance analytics for internal and client use.
  • Support continuous improvement of execution efficiency through automation, modelling, and process enhancement.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Interaction

  • Work closely with the Head of Investments, Portfolio Manager, advisors, compliance, and operations teams.
  • Interact with external counterparties and custodian banks as part of daily execution activities.
  • Potential for direct client interaction as technical and communication capabilities develop.
Skills & Technical Requirements
  • Strong understanding of financial instruments, particularly derivatives and options.
  • Solid knowledge of the trade lifecycle, including execution, confirmation, settlement, and controls.
  • Demonstrated hands-on trading or execution experience (professional or personal).
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with VBA, macros, R, or similar tools is highly valued.
  • Ability to work accurately under time pressure in fast-moving market conditions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience & Qualifications
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in trading, execution, investment operations, or closely related roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualifications such as CFA or a Master’s degree are advantageous but not mandatory.
Working Style & Culture Fit
  • Collaborative, hands-on, and adaptable working style
  • Comfortable operating in a non-siloed investment environment
  • Strong ownership mindset and attention to detail
  • Proactive in identifying inefficiencies and improving processes
