The Big Data Infrastructure Specialist will be responsible for end‑to‑end design, engineering guidance, and platform governance across our enterprise data ecosystem. You will shape the bank’s next‑generation data infrastructure, ensuring it is scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned with business and regulatory needs.
- Architect and design enterprise‑grade big data platforms, including compute, storage, ingestion, and processing layers.
- Lead the implementation of distributed data systems (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Flink, etc.) to support high‑volume, high‑velocity workloads.
- Define data infrastructure standards and best practices, ensuring consistency across all business units.
- Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, and application teams to deliver robust, high‑performance data solutions.
- Optimise data pipelines and cluster performance, including resource management, tuning, and workload orchestration.
- Ensure platform security, compliance, and governance, aligned to banking regulations and internal risk frameworks.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and drive adoption of modern data infrastructure tools and architectures.
- Provide architectural leadership in projects involving data lake modernisation, cloud migration, and real‑time data streaming.
- Oversee operational reliability, including monitoring, observability, disaster recovery, and capacity planning.
Requirements
- Strong hands‑on experience with big data platforms such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, HBase, Kafka, Flink, or similar.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, cluster management, and large‑scale data processing.
- Experience with cloud‑based data architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Solid knowledge of data security, encryption, IAM, and governance frameworks, especially in regulated industries.
- Familiarity with DevOps and DataOps practices, CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure‑as‑code.
- Strong background in data architecture, ETL/ELT pipelines, and real‑time streaming.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence technical direction.
- Prior experience in the banking or financial services sector is highly preferred.
