A reputable educational institution in Singapore seeks a Head of Department dedicated to empowering students to thrive. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor Degree in Special Education and at least 7 years of experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role. This individual will lead curriculum design and implement student development programs, foster collaboration, and provide mentorship for professional growth. A passion for working with disabled individuals is a plus.

In addition to the role of a HOD:
Partner Vice Principal in developing the school’s vision, educational goals and priorities to guide school-based curriculum to meet educational needs of student profile
Partner Vice Principal in developing a holistic, rigorous and engaging school-based curriculum which is aligned with the school’s vision
Partner Vice Principal in developing and implementing a framework for monitoring and evaluating instructional programmes, classroom practices and student progress using best practices and relevant data to achieve post-student outcomes
Partner Vice Principal in implementing (innovative) pedagogical and assessment methods to enhance student’s learning
Partner Vice Principal in developing and implementing a school-wide ITP/IEP process
Lead the development of an integrated curriculum and collaboration with families and Allied Professionals to achieve desired outcomes for all students
Lead cross-functional teams to develop and implement programmes to support student character development and social emotional skills for the assigned domain/level/track (aligned with MTSS moving forward)
Partner Vice Principal in developing school-wide professional development roadmaps and in-house programmes for teaching professionals
Proactively seek learning opportunities and set stretch goals to drive own professional and holistic development
Provide ongoing feedback and mentorship to new KPs to encourage performance improvement, reflective practice and facilitate skill development
Evaluate direct reports’ progress and performance, and provide coaching/mentoring
Lead cross-functional teams to plan and implement school, organisation or sector-wide programmes/initiatives/projects
Lead cross-functional teams to establish and develop partnerships with stakeholders (e.g. families/caregivers, community or mainstream partners, allied professionals) to achieve desired outcomes
Foster a culture of integrity, professionalism, collaboration and innovation across different departments
Lead the formulation, implementation and evaluation of work plans and initiatives across different departments to ensure alignment with the school’s vision and priorities
Plan and manage allocated budget and resources for the educational programme(s) across the whole school
Lead the development and implementation of induction programmes for new staff
Support the selection and assessment of Teachers
Participate in organisation-wide programmes and initiatives
Undertake any other relevant duties as and when assigned by the Principal, AWWA CEO or School Management Committee
Bachelor Degree (preferably in Special Education)
At least 7 years of relevant working experience with at least 2 years in a Head of Department position
Experience working with persons with disabilities is an added advantage
