The Company

A global specialist power engineering consultancy delivering high-voltage power systems, transmission, substations, renewable energy integration, and EPC/commissioning support across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and the Middle East. With a workforce of 500+ professionals worldwide, the business is recognised for deep technical expertise, practical delivery, and end-to-end execution across the energy value chain.

As part of its strategic growth plan, the organisation is establishing and scaling a Singapore-based engineering hub to support Southeast Asia projects and regional clients.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Head of Engineering Singapore as the first senior hire in the country.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for technical excellence, project delivery, and building a local engineering team as the business expands its footprint in Singapore and Southeast Asia.

The role suits a senior power engineer who can lead from the front, balance design and delivery responsibilities, and progressively develop a high-performing local team, while working closely with regional and global engineering groups.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership & Technical Authority

  • Act as the technical authority for Singapore engineering operations across:
  • Power systems engineering & studies
  • HV/MV/LV networks
  • Transmission lines
  • Substation (AIS/GIS) design
  • Renewables, BESS & grid integration
  • Review, approve, and assure quality of engineering deliverables, reports, and designs.
  • Ensure compliance with Singapore and regional standards, utilities, and regulatory requirements.

Project Delivery & Execution

  • Lead engineering delivery for regional projects, ensuring schedule, cost, and quality targets are met.
  • Deliver practical, constructible, and safe designs.
  • Provide design support during construction, commissioning, and testing phases.
  • Coordinate with EPC partners, contractors, utilities, and clients.
  • Support projects delivered locally and remotely, managing delivery risk across borders.

Team Build-Out & Capability Development

  • Establish the Singapore engineering function from the ground up.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers as the business scales.
  • Define career pathways, technical standards, and engineering processes.
  • Balance autonomy with accountability maintaining quality without micromanagement.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a senior technical interface for clients, developers, utilities, and partners.
  • Support bids, proposals, technical clarifications, and early-stage project development.
  • Build credibility and long-term relationships within the Singapore and regional power markets.

Regional & Global Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineering teams across Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, and globally.
  • Adapt established technical frameworks and delivery models to the Southeast Asia context.
  • Contribute to regional growth strategy and service diversification.
What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 10+ years experience in power systems engineering and/or electrical infrastructure.
  • Strong background in:
  • HV/MV/LV networks
  • Transmission lines
  • Substation design (AIS/GIS)
  • Power system studies and grid connection works
  • Proven experience delivering complex infrastructure or energy projects.
  • Background in consulting, EPC, or utility-facing environments.

Leadership & Delivery

  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams or acting as a senior technical authority.
  • Comfortable being hands-on while building and scaling a team.
  • Strong commercial awareness and delivery mindset.
  • Able to operate effectively in a growth-stage environment with evolving structures.

Regional Knowledge (Preferred)

  • Familiarity with Singapore or Southeast Asia power markets, utilities, and standards.
  • Experience working with utilities, IPPs, developers, or infrastructure owners.
