Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and implement the overall strategy for the Aviation LOB in the APAC Region, aligning with the company’s broader objectives.
  • Identify growth opportunities and emerging risks in the aviation industry to expand market presence.
  • Lead the division in responding to market trends, regulatory changes, and competitive pressures.
Portfolio Management
  • Manage the aviation insurance portfolio, ensuring profitability and adherence to underwriting standards.
  • Ran>Review and implement pricing models, underwriting guidelines, and risk selection frameworks for aviation risks relevant to the APAC Region.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and recommend adjustments to improve results while balancing risk exposure.
Business Development
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and industry stakeholders to drive new business opportunities.
  • Represent Sompo at industry events, conferences, and forums to strengthen brand presence in the aviation sector.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop targeted campaigns and initiatives for aviation insurance.
Team Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of underwriters and aviation insurance professionals.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the division.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to ensure the team stays ahead of industry developments.
Operational Excellence
  • Ensure compliance with internal underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies.
  • Oversee claims handling processes to ensure prompt and fair resolution of aviation-related claims.
  • Drive efficiencies in processes, leveraging technology and data analytics to improve decision-making and operational performance.
Innovation and Risk Management
  • Explore innovative insurance solutions, such as parametric policies and digital products, tailored to aviation clients.
  • Conduct risk assessments for new and emerging aviation trends (e.g., drones, urban air mobility).
  • Collaborate with actuarial and risk management teams to model complex aviation risks.
