Position Overview

As the Engineering Head – ASEAN Products at TVS Motor, you will lead the end-to-end engineering and product development function for ASEAN‑specific two‑wheeler solutions. This includes driving concept development, engineering strategy, product industrialization, software integration, and innovation pipelines tailored to ASEAN customer needs and market conditions.

Your initial focus will be on a flagship product in the development pipeline, with the scope to expand into a broader ASEAN portfolio based on market success. The role demands deep automotive engineering expertise, strong leadership across global and regional teams, and the ability to balance customer aspirations with performance, quality, cost and regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities
1. Product Development Leadership
  • Lead and drive full‑cycle engineering for ASEAN‑specific products from concept, architecture definition, development, validation, and up to delivery.
  • Ensure engineering solutions reflect ASEAN customer insights, competitive benchmarks, regulatory needs, and aspirational product positioning.
  • Achieve target product cost while maintaining uncompromised quality, durability, and performance.
2. Research & Development
  • Lead R&D initiatives for ASEAN products in collaboration with global engineering centres of competence.
  • Identify and integrate advanced technologies, materials, architectures, and innovations relevant to ASEAN markets.
3. Software & Digital Integration
  • Oversee software development for ASEAN products, ensuring robust integration with vehicle hardware systems.
  • Drive connected features, digital interfaces, and user experience solutions relevant to ASEAN customer preferences.
4. Quality & Customer Experience
  • Jointly own product NPS by ensuring top‑tier product, hardware, and software quality.
  • Establish and execute validation and testing processes tailored for ASEAN environmental and usage conditions.
5. Innovation & IP Management
  • Build a culture of innovation within the engineering team to deliver differentiated solutions.
  • Ensure timely creation, protection, and management of intellectual property; mitigate IP risks proactively.
6. Strategic Growth & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Build engineering capability and competency roadmap for the future ASEAN product portfolio.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and regional teams for successful industrialisation and market launch.
Requirements
Educational Qualification
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
Work Experience
  • 20+ years of progressive experience in automotive engineering, including at least 5 years in senior leadership roles.
  • Proven track record in leading product development for international markets; ASEAN experience highly preferred.
Technical Skills
  • Strong technical expertise in two‑wheeler or automotive product development (ICE and EV).
  • Deep understanding of full product lifecycle engineering, validation methodologies, and cross‑domain integration.
  • Knowledge of ASEAN regulatory frameworks, road conditions, and customer usage behaviour.
  • Familiarity with software‑hardware integration, connected technologies, and digital product features.
