Job description

Founded in 2018 by CPAs, tax attorneys, and software developers, Taxbit is creating an entirely new category to enable widespread compliant adoption of digital assets for the global economy. Taxbit’s Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform streamlines and automates customers’ tax reporting and accounting activities for digital assets.

Trusted by leading crypto, tech, and traditional enterprises, Big 4 accounting firms, and government agencies (including the IRS), Taxbit solves compliance challenges at scale amidst an ever-evolving regulatory landscape. Taxbit is backed by leading Silicon Valley VCs with teams located in New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, Salt Lake City, and Europe.

Opportunity for Impact

Taxbit is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to be a critical technical partner in our growth. This role is a unique hybrid, split evenly between client-facing technical leadership and core platform engineering, perfect for someone who is passionate about helping the world's largest enterprises solve complex problems and navigate the complex frontier of digital asset compliance through cutting-edge software.

This role requires professional proficiency in both English and Mandarin. It is open only to candidates who currently reside in Singapore and are legally authorized to work in Singapore (e.g., holders of a valid Employment Pass or Permanent Resident status). The position requires on‑site availability and alignment with local business operations.

You will spend roughly half your time working directly with clients: providing deep technical guidance during the sales process, helping close deals, and owning the integration experience from start to finish. You will become the company's expert on our integration process, from backend data pipelines to frontend application integrations, and will develop and own the demos that bring our product to life.

The other half of your time will be spent as a key contributor to the core Taxbit platform. You will leverage the direct client insights from your field experience to identify problems, then design, build, and deliver scalable platform solutions and new features our clients need, directly shaping our product roadmap.

We welcome individuals who are humble, hungry, and excited to tackle some of the industry's biggest challenges at the intersection of technology and client success!

Role and Responsibilities
  • Act as the trusted technical advisor to our most strategic clients, from individual developers to CTOs.
  • Provide expert technical guidance to our sales team and potential clients during the pre‑sales cycle to help design solutions and close deals.
  • Develop, own, and maintain our suite of high‑quality demos and technical documentation for use in pre‑ and post‑sales client engagements.
  • Become a deep expert on our client integration process, mastering both backend data integration challenges and frontend application integrations.
  • Lead the post‑sales technical integration, owning client problems end‑to‑end and building modern solutions and proofs‑of‑concept for complex, client‑facing problems.
Core Software Engineering
  • Be the voice of the customer to Product and Engineering, synthesizing complex field‑level challenges and opportunities into actionable product roadmap initiatives.
  • Contribute directly to the core Taxbit platform by building modern, scalable solutions to complex platform‑level problems, including new features and enhanced integration capabilities.
  • Write well‑designed, well‑tested, readable, and maintainable code for both client‑facing tools and the core Taxbit platform.
  • Partner with designers, product managers, sales, and other engineers to solve the right problems for customers and the platform.
  • Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality, distribute knowledge, and help team velocity.
Professional Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional programming experience building cloud applications and services.
  • Demonstrated expertise as an API expert: building, consuming, and documenting scalable, resilient APIs and services.
  • Proven full‑stack experience, with deep comfort across both modern web frontends and backend distributed systems.
  • Proven experience in a client‑facing role, interfacing directly with external technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong ability to set goals, manage competing priorities, and work autonomously in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Passionate about code quality, continuous delivery, automated testing, and incident response.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Technical Qualifications
  • Strong coding skills required in Typescript, NodeJS, and React, with experience in Python being a plus.
  • Experience with a variety of cloud storage solutions (SQL, Blob, Document, Search).
  • Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, DataDog, and GitHub CI/CD.
  • Experience with big data technologies like Spark/Iceberg/Hive/Kafka/Presto etc. is a plus.
  • Familiarity and interest in the emerging and evolving Web3 space.
  • Demonstrated skill in using AI tools to accelerate software development and increase productivity.
Personal Characteristics
  • Finds energy in talking to clients, understanding their needs, and designing solutions.
  • Ability to work in an agile environment and challenge yourself and your team to improve their ways of working.
  • A strong sense of teamwork and a passion for mentorship.
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally a few times per year to regions such as EMEA and APAC. Maintains flexible hours to collaborate with clients across global time zones.
