Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Full-Time Family Teacher to support the academic, emotional, and developmental needs of two pre-school (kindergarten 2) children in a private household. This role involves close collaboration with the children's pre-school and household staff to maintain a structured, enriching and well-balanced environment. The ideal candidate will offer individualized academic support in both English and Mandarin, establish positive daily routines, and guide the children's holistic growth through tailored learning and personal guidance.

Key Responsibilities:
Educational Support
  • Monitor and guide the child’s academic performance.
  • Provide direct support with homework, projects, and to build confidence and independent learning habits.
  • Manage all school-related communications.
  • Design and implement engaging, individualized lesson plans that promote creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
  • Support bilingual learning in English and Mandarin to strengthen academic performance in both languages.
Daily Routine & Child Development
  • Coordinate timely school pick-ups (4pm) with the family’s personal driver.
  • Accompany the child through daily routines, including study sessions, leisure time, and enrichment activities.
  • Manage and coordinate schedules for extracurricular classes, social outings, and appointments.
  • Maintain a structured daily routine that balances academics, play, and rest.
  • Identify and nurture the child’s personal interests and hobbies to encourage well-rounded development.
Emotional & Cultural Support
  • Foster a nurturing, culturally respectful environment aligned with the family’s values and traditions.
  • Provide emotional support, particularly during parental absences, promote healthy social and emotional growth.
  • Use positive reinforcement to encourage responsibility, resilience, and a love for learning.
Household Coordination
  • Coordinate with household staff to maintain a smooth daily routine and ensure a safe, clean, and conducive to learning-friendly environment.
  • Regularly update parents on academic progress, developmental milestones, and daily activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Early Childhood or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of teaching or tutoring experience, ideally in an international or bilingual school setting.
  • Fluent in both English and Mandarin, with the ability to support academic learning in both languages.
  • Familiarity with Singapore’s education system.
  • Passionate about child development, demonstrating patience, care, and a proactive approach.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with children and parents.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with the broader household team.
  • Willing and able to travel with the children and family, creating educational experiences during trips and providing consistent support throughout travel periods.
  • Able to commit to a 6-day work week (4:00PM - 9:00PM on weekdays; 10:00AM - 6:00PM on Saturday) and be flexible to work overtime when needed, particularly for teaching-related responsibilities.
