Job Description:

  1. Cost Estimation & Analysis
    a. Prepare detailed cost estimates and timeline for ship repair, conversion, and newbuilding projects, including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontracting.
    b. Analyze project specifications, technical drawings, and client requirements to determine accurate scope of work.
    c. Ensure all cost elements are properly documented and aligned with project standards, regulatory requirements and industry practices.
  2. Tender & Quotation Preparation
    a. Prepare and submit tenders or quotations in response to client inquiries or bidding invitations.
    b. Liaise with procurement, production, and engineering teams to verify cost inputs, delivery timeline and availability.
    c. Review and update estimates as project specifications or conditions change.
  3. Coordination & Communication
    a. Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Department Heads to gather data and validate technical requirements.
    b. Participate in tender meetings, site inspections, and client discussions when required.
    c. Coordinate with Finance and Management for pricing approval and commercial strategy.
  4. Cost Control & Reporting
    a. Maintain an updated database of labour rates, material costs, and subcontractor pricing.
    b. Provide input and feedback for post-project reviews to improve future estimation accuracy.
    c. Assist in developing cost-control strategies and project profitability analysis.

Requirements:

  1. Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  2. Minimum 3–5 years of experience in ship repair, conversion, or newbuilding estimation within a shipyard environment.
  3. Worked in a shipyard (preferred) or fabrication yard before (within last 10 years)
  4. Strong understanding of ship structures, systems, and repair procedures.
  5. Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  6. Strong communication and coordination abilities with both internal teams and clients.
  7. Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and accountability.
  8. Experience in yard production will be an advantage.
  9. Proficient in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office.
