Responsibilities of a site engineer differ from project to project. It depends on factors such as project cost, location, project type, etc. Generally, a site engineer has the following job responsibilities:

  1. Site Supervision
  2. This is the main responsibility of a site engineer which includes monitoring construction progress and quality of work to ensure it complies with designs and specifications. Ensure that construction activities are conducted according to the schedule and within the project's scope.
  3. Technical Advice Provide technical support to construction teams, helping solve engineering-related problems on site. Interpret architectural and engineering drawings and provide clarity to contractors and workers when needed.
  4. Liaison and Communication Act as a liaison between clients, contractors, consultants, architects, and project managers. Regularly communicate project updates and any on-site issues to senior engineers or project managers.
  5. Health and Safety
  6. Ensure that safety protocols and procedures are followed at all times on the construction site. Conduct safety inspections and promote a safe work environment.
  7. Material and Equipment Management Oversee the usage and storage of materials and construction equipment. Coordinate with suppliers for timely deliveries and ensure quality materials are used.
  8. Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily logs, quality reports, and material usage. Report progress, delays, and other on-site issues to senior management or clients.
