What the role is

You are the psychological health consultant to the Division/Formation/Command you are affiliated to.

What you will be working on
  • Develop overall psychological health strategy and workplan for your affiliated Division/Formation/Command
  • Engage commanders/supervisors to understand their needs and organisational context
  • Plan well-being initiatives (e.g., Division/Formation/Command and unit well-being days) and organise activities, talks, and visits
  • Monitor well-being status and present findings at key forums
  • Work with commanders/supervisors to develop interventions when necessary
  • Provide one-on-one support to service personnel (e.g., interviews, counselling, life skills training)
  • Partner with commanders/supervisors to resolve workplace adjustment issues
  • Advise on deployment options and management plans
  • Train commanders/supervisors on managing psychological health challenges in the workplace
  • Challenges:
    • Reducing stigma around mental health in a military context
    • Shaping a psychologically healthy culture in the Division/Formation/Command
    • Encouraging service personnel to seek help when in distress
    • Keeping abreast of the latest developments in the field of psychological health
    • Managing personal mental well‑being while dealing with potentially emotionally draining casework
What we are looking for
  • Education in Psychology
  • Knowledge of national‑level psychological and social services policies and resources is preferred
  • Aptitude for applied psychological research
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Member of the Singapore Psychological Society is preferred
