Job summary

A technology solutions company based in Singapore is looking for a Database Administrator with expertise in PostgreSQL and Sybase. The role includes acting as the highest level of technical escalation for database issues and managing incidents, problems, and changes. Job description

Responsibilities:

• Act as the highest level of technical escalation for PostgreSQL/Sybase issues.
• Manage incident, problem, and change management processes.
• Lead and delegate technical tasks across the team; promote knowledge sharing.
• Own fault investigation, resolution, and user issue escalations.
• Perform deployments, upgrades, and DR/HA configuration of database systems.
• Participate in infrastructure events (e.g., Power Down, DR Tests).
• Drive root cause analysis for high-severity incidents.
• Maintain compliance with IT standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure documentation is current, clear, and usable.
• Lead automation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

• 6 to 8 years of hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL and/or Sybase in production environments.
• Bachelor's/Master's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience in enterprise‑level environments; financial services is a plus.
• Solid understanding of IT security practices and ITIL processes.
• Strong analytical, communication, and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting PostgreSQL/Sybase databases.
• Experience with HA/DR strategies and implementations.
• Scripting knowledge (Python, T‑SQL, Shell) is desirable.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) is a plus.

Certifications (Preferred):

• PostgreSQL and/or Sybase DBA Certification
• Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP)
