The candidate will join the Corporate Lending Asia team, which is responsible for the marketing, structuring and execution of corporate loan transactions for BBVA’s corporate and financial institution clients across Asia Pacific. This position is based in Singapore.
The candidate’s primary responsibility will be to support the origination and execution of corporate loan transactions (including syndicated loans, bilateral loans, acquisition financings, and sustainable financings) in the South East Asia & India region, with a secondary responsibility to support other Asian regional transactions (as-needed).
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to all tasks in the various phases of transaction origination and execution - from credit analysis, pitch preparation, term sheet preparation, loan structuring, documentation through to deal closing
- Conduct research, analyses and reports on selected companies
- Maintain and update databases on precedent and comparable loans & bonds
- Prepare & present proposals to business and credit committees for deal approvals
- Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., Coverage, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Tax, Sustainable Finance, Operations) and external stakeholders (e.g., clients, banks, and legal counsel) to ensure seamless execution of transactions
- Draft mandate documents such as term sheets and mandate letters, and review facility agreements, fee letters and legal opinions
- Manage the closing of transactions, including signing and internal loan booking processes, and developing case studies for internal/external use
- Prepare management presentations and pipeline activity reports
- Maintain audit filing requirements for closed transactions
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or related disciplines
- Minimum of 3-4 years of working experience in corporate banking, investment banking or credit risk roles (direct experience in loan origination roles is preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Good understanding of the SEA & India syndicated loan markets and industry best practices
- Experience in the origination and execution of corporate loan transactions, including good understanding of loan documentation
- Strong credit and risk analysis skills
- Organization skills, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines for senior team members / customer needs
- Excellent presentation and analytical skills
- Meticulous work with an attention to detail, and a good sense of accountability
- Proactive self-starter with commercial mindset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Bloomberg, LoanConnector
- Willingness and aptitude to learn new technologies (including AI)
Language
- Fluent in spoken and written English. Chinese or any other Asian language is a plus.
